The most common failure modes of the Volvo 2.0D D4204 intake manifold
include swirl flap jamming caused by carbon deposits (soot buildup)
on the flap mechanism, wear of the swirl flap travel limiter, and
manifold leakage at the central bolt.
These issues lead to rough idle, loss of power and increased exhaust smoke.
Remanufacturing, unlike swirl flap removal, fully restores the
original manifold function and eliminates all three failure points.
