P200A error in Opel Antara and Chevrolet Captiva, Cruze, Orlando 2.2 CDTI / 2.0 VCDI – intake manifold defects
Fault code P200A (incorrect operation of the intake manifold flap control system) in A22DM/A22DMH and 2.0 VCDI engines is usually caused by a mechanical failure. It comes down to two factory defects of the swirl flap mechanism.
Causes of failure
– Plastic swirl flap control rod. The element that transfer movement from the vacuum actuator to the flap shaft eventually breaks. The vacuum actuator keeps working, but the ECU registers a discrepancy between the commanded and the actual position. A broken rod causes the flaps to move uncontrolled.
– Wearing flap shaft bearings. The factory bearing is short and wears out quickly. Play and increasing resistance to movement prevent the flaps from reaching the commanded position. In addition, as a result of bearing wear, the flap shaft seal stops working, causing leaks.
Replacing the manifold with a new one does not remove the cause.
A new original manifold and a Chinese aftermarket replacement share the same design, and therefore the same defects. After replacement the fault may return, and the cost of repair is high.

PT-PRO remanufacturing: what we fix and replace
In PT-PRO remanufactured manifolds we eliminate the factory defects that cause the P200A error:
Modified metal flap control lever. Eliminates the risk of breakage to which the factory plastic part is prone.
Reinforced bearings. Made of wear-resistant materials and significantly longer than the factory bearings, which extends the service life of the swirl flap mechanism.
In addition, the manifold receives:
new swirl flaps,
a new stainless steel shaft,
new seals and manifold gaskets.
Vacuum actuators are tested mechanically and electrically.
