Remanufactured intake manifold Hyundai/Kia 1.4/ 1.6/ 1.7 CRDi (D4FB, D4FC, D4FD engines), fitted in model ranges: i20, i30, i40, ix35, Tucson, Sportage, Ceed, Rio, Optima, Cerato, and others.
The most common causes of 1.4-1.7 CRDi intake manifold failure include:
- faulty mounting of the swirl flap shaft in older generation manifolds (up to 2015 model year), resulting in broken flaps,
- swirl flap bearing wear: for pre-2015 manifolds, this typically affects the last flap furthest from the actuator, which carries the highest load; post-2015, the manufacturer reduced the overall bearing size, causing practically the entire swirl flap bearing system to wear out,
- leaks from the swirl flap shaft seal, leading to boost pressure leaks in the charge air system,
- wear and detachment of the actuator linkage rod in newer generation manifolds (from 2015 model year onwards),
- occasionally: actuator motor wear and Hall sensor damage, resulting in electrical faults such as an unstable or lost flap position feedback signal.
Commercially available swirl flap repair kits replicate the original shaft and bearing design, failing to eliminate the root cause of the breakdown. As a result, the issue recurs in the exact same spot. Our flaps feature a modified shaft mounting design and reinforced bearings, which addresses the root cause of both primary faults rather than merely treating the symptoms. Unlike deleting or blanking the swirl flaps, remanufacturing fully restores the manifold’s original function.
The 1.4-1.7 CRDi intake manifold remanufacturing process includes disassembly and cleaning, as well as replacing the swirl flaps and bearings with our redesigned version. Every remanufactured manifold undergoes testing and electrical parameter verification of the electronic actuator.
